Rowan Crowie
Rowan previously headed up the Property Division of the South African Reserve Bank where he was responsible for the development management of major capital projects; the facilities management of the Bank’s capital assets; the property management of a property portfolio valued at R3.5 billion. Prior to this, he worked for Murray and Roberts Construction (Pty) Ltd, where he managed the construction of a number of prestigious projects including the five - star Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town and the Pepsi Bottling Plant in Phoenix, Durban. Rowan’s key competencies include the Formulation and Development of Policy and Strategic Planning; the conversion of Strategic Initiatives into Broad policy Frameworks; the Implementation of Affirmative Procurement Initiatives; Property Development and Development Management; Stakeholder Identification and Liaison; Client Liaison. Rowan is currently the majority Shareholder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Crowie Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Rowan is also a Director of Crowie Concessions, the Chairman of Enza Construction and Crowie Projects, and a Non-Executive Director of Focus Project Management, Sanyati Holdings, The Pace Property Group and Standard Electrical.
Siyabonga Mbanjwa
Siyabonga Mbanjwa started his career as a bursary student with Murray and Roberts Construction. As site engineer, he worked on projects such as the International Convention Centre (Durban) and the Chief Albert Luthuli Academic Hospital. He later joined the SA Reserve Bank where he worked on projects such as the upgrade and extensions to the Bank’s Head Office in Pretoria, branch and cash centre construction and upgrades to 40 Church Square. He was subsequently appointed to head Old Mutual Properties’ developments division in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. This entailed overseeing a team that delivered projects such as the Riverside Mall extensions in Nelspruit, a number of offices to apartment building conversions in the Johannesburg and Pretoria CBDs, WIPHOLD’s new corporate headquarters in Houghton and various construction projects at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, The Zone @ Rosebank and the planning stages of Zonk’izizwe mixed use town centre. Siya is the Managing Director of Crowie Concessions, Crowie Projects and a Non-Executive Director of Crowie Holdings, Focus Project Management and Enza Construction.
Fred Pieterson
Prior to joining Crowie Projects, Fred spent 10 years of his career assuming various positions at the eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development and Facilitation Department. This culminated in him being appointed as the Head of this department. Whilst at the municipality, he was also appointed as a member of the eThekwini Municipality’s Strategic Management team and was responsible for the management of several eThekwini Municipal policy development processes. His professional strengths have led him to develop and strategically manage several Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment deals for projects such as the R120 million Umlazi Mega City retail development as well as the R750 million mixed use Ushaka Marine World in Durban. His entrepreneurial skills are highlighted in early years as the Managing Director of NVees Clothing Manufacturers with a staff complement of 120 employees and an annual turnover of R15 million in 1992. Fred is a Director at Crowie Concessions and the COO of Crowie Holdings. He also holds Non- Executive Directorships at Enza Construction and is the Non-Executive Chairman of both Focus Project Management and Standard Electrical.
Andre de Wet
André is currently the Group Finance Director for Crowie Holdings. Prior to joining Crowie Holdings, André was the Executive Director for Finance at the University of Witwatersrand where he managed a budget of R1,5 billion. Here he was responsible for the physical improvement project of approximately R100 million on campus in order to aid the marketing and an image renewal campaign. This included finding a developer to invest own funds into refurbishing the Student Centre into a food and retail mall. Through this process, André gained incredible experience in development and construction. At Wits he developed a Risk Management Programme in line with King II corporate governance guidelines. André began his career in Auditing in 1975 with Ernst & Young. Through his years he gained vast experience in the accounting industry, both nationally and internationally. He is affiliated with many professional bodies including (Advancement of Black Accountants of SA) ABASA where he was the founding member and chairperson of the Cape Town branch, sits on the disciplinary Committee of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA), and served on various career guidance committees for Chartered Accountants, and SAICA. He also served on a number of Audit committees. André is currently the Financial Director at Crowie Holdings, Crowie Concessions and Enza Construction.
Non Executive Directors
Clinton Crowie
Clinton Crowie is the Managing Director of Focus Project Management with over 15 years of construction and project management experience. Clinton was the project director responsible for many large scale projects such as MTN Phase 2, the Fairlands Office Development, World Wear Shopping Centre, Multi Storey Parkade and Extension at OR Tambo International Airport. Prior to joining Focus Project Management, Clinton was at CPC International, where he gained international exposure on projects abroad such as Harrods and the refurbishment to the London Underground Stratford Station. Clinton is responsible for the strategic development of Focus Project Management in Africa, which has resulted in various projects such as the Levy Junction Mixed Use Development in Zambia, and the Swakopmund Waterfront Development in Namibia. He is also a Non-Executive Director at Crowie Holdings and Enza Construction.
Brain Craig
Brian has accumulated over 16 years in the financial services industry in both the public and private sectors dealing with a diverse array of issues ranging from applied policy research, sourcing and application of development finance, facilitating foreign direct investment, corporate and merchant banking and black economic empowerment deal-making. He has been a member of divisional and head office executive committees for all the domestic and international investment banks he joined, where he headed corporate and merchant banking product areas with a focus on major domestic corporations and institutions, major state-owned enterprises and financial institutions. He has served as bank director with SARB approval for both Deutsche Bank SA and Commerzbank Jhb Branch, and chaired the Treasurer’s Sub-Committee of the International Banking Association. He is also a Non-Executive Director at Crowie Holdings
Management
Vatiswa Mjiba
Worked as a project manager for a retail group coordinating the rollout of stores nationally within the group, setting - out and managing the merchandise layouts and specifications and overseeing the construction project managers. Prior to that she has spent time working as a development manager for one of the largest property development companies, Old Mutual Properties putting together developments schemes, their viability, overseeing and coordinating the professional teams and project managing during construction. She has also worked as a quantity surveyor.
Neville Abbott
Neville Abbott began his career in the construction sector as an architect for one of the leading Architectural and Urban Design firms in the country. In 2007 he made a career change and was employed as a Junior Project Manager at Focus Project Management, part of the Crowie Holdings Group and was employed most recently as a Senior Project Manager where he was responsible for various office and retail projects in and around Johannesburg and Pretoria. Since November of 2010 he has been employed as a Development Manager at Crowie Projects, after a period of having been seconded to the company.
Gladys Moya
Gladys began her career with Stocks Building Africa in 2003 as an intern student where she worked on the R56 million Sports and Cultural Centre in Lesotho. While studying towards her BTech QS she then joined Mashona Construction in East London, in the Eastern Cape where she gained experience as QS in the projects including a Recording Studio and various large scale health facilities projects. Gladys is currently the Project Administrator at Crowie Projects where she was responsible for Gold Reef Sands and tender administration.
